Firmware Compilation and Flashing

Confirm the firmware type first
  • If no CAN tool board is connected and the main board is directly connected to the host computer via Type-C: select USB Firmware.
  • If a CAN tool board is used and the main board acts as a USB-CAN bridge: select USB Bridge CAN Firmware.

Select Firmware Type

Do not confuse the flashing channel with the operating channel

The USB-to-CAN bridge firmware communicates over CAN via can0 at runtime, but Katapult writes firmware only through Type-C USB. When updating, you can use -u <mainboard canbus_uuid> to let flashtool automatically reboot into Katapult, or you can double-click RST and then flash with usb-katapult_...; both methods ultimately go through Type-C USB.

Which firmware do you want to flash to your lower-level machine?
