FLY-EDDY Calibration
Klipper has recently optimized the Eddy probe functionality. It is recommended to update to the latest version:
- Standard host: Please update Klipper to the latest version
- FLY Fast system: Please upgrade the system version to V1.3.8 or higher
- The tool board or related lower-level firmware also needs to be updated to the latest version
- Recalibration is required after system update: After updating Klipper / FLY Fast system or lower-level firmware, the drive current calibration and height calibration need to be performed again
- Before use, make sure your printer has no electrical leakage
- If
eddy,Probe, orBL-Touchconfigurations were previously set up, please delete them - When installing EDDY, the coil must be above the nozzle and at a distance of
2~3mmfrom the nozzle - It is recommended not to turn on the heated bed during testing and calibration
- Multi-Z-axis machines need to be manually leveled once before calibration

Coil Model Download Links
- Click the button below to download the coil model:
Calculating XY Offset Values
After downloading the model, measure and calculate the XY offset values based on the actual structure of your printer, then modify the x_offset and y_offset values in the configuration.
EDDY Calibration
Notes
- Make sure no other probe configurations such as
Probe,BL-Touch, etc. are enabled at the same time. - Multi-Z-axis machines need to be manually leveled once first.
- Before calibration, check that the bed surface is free of debris and keep the nozzle clean.
Before cleaning the nozzle, wait for the nozzle to cool to a safe temperature; if cleaning is necessary while hot, only use dedicated tools, and strictly do not touch the nozzle, hotend, or bed directly with your hands.
Add Temporary Configuration
The configuration below is only for temporary calibration and must be deleted or commented out after use.
- After adding, click
Save & Restartto save and restart. - It must be added to the top of the
printer.cfgfile; do not add it to the end of the file.
The temporary macros below will move the machine without fully confirming the true Z-axis position. Before executing, move your hands and tools away, confirm there are no obstructions below the nozzle, and be ready to use the emergency stop at any time.

Drive Current Calibration
Enter the following in the web console:
_LDC_CALIBRATE_DRIVE_CURRENT
After execution, the printer will move to the center position and move the printhead away from the bed. The system will then automatically perform drive current calibration. After calibration is complete, save the configuration and restart Klipper.
Calibrate Height
- Multi-Z-axis machines need to be manually leveled once first before height calibration.
- After completing height calibration on multi-Z-axis machines, it is recommended to perform leveling again and recalibrate the height.
- Before calibration, check that the bed surface is free of debris and keep the nozzle clean.
- Height calibration usually needs to be performed two to three times to obtain stable results: data may deviate after the first calibration, so it is recommended to repeat until the results are consistent.
- Recalibration is required after system updates: after updating Klipper / FLY Fast system or lower-level firmware, EDDY drive current and height calibration data may become invalid, and drive current calibration and height calibration need to be performed again.
Enter the following in the web console:
PROBE_EDDY_CURRENT_CALIBRATE_AUTO CHIP=fly_eddy_probe
After execution, the printer will move to the center position and a calibration dialog box will pop up. At this time, the Z height displayed by Klipper is not important; just follow the interface prompts to gradually lower the nozzle until the nozzle produces slight friction with the paper.
After completion, click ACCEPT in the dialog box, and the system will begin calibrating the EDDY height. After calibration is complete, click SAVE_CONFIG & Restart in the upper right corner of the web page to save the configuration and restart Klipper.
Common Questions
Q: What if the temperature rises too slowly?
A: Check if the environment is enclosed and if there are any significant air currents. If heating is too slow, you can end the calibration early.
Q: What if the data fluctuates greatly?
A: Ensure consistent force when testing with paper and check that the sensors are securely installed.
Q: What if calibration doesn’t work after completion?
A: Make sure SAVE_CONFIG was executed and Klipper was restarted.
Recommended Use of TAP Mode
TAP mode relies on drive current and height calibration data. You must complete the calibration process above before normal use; if calibration is not completed, TAP mode cannot be triggered properly.
FLY-EDDY supports two trigger modes: normal probing and TAP. TAP mode is recommended:
- TAP mode determines the trigger threshold by lightly touching the nozzle against the bed surface, so the trigger point is closer to the actual printing gap and the Z offset is more stable
- Before each print, the Z offset can be automatically confirmed via
SET_Z_FROM_PROBE METHOD=tap, reducing first-layer issues - Supports automatic threshold calibration (
PROBE_EDDY_CURRENT_TAP_CALIBRATE), so there is no need to manually entertap_threshold - TAP threshold calibration usually needs to be performed two to three times to obtain a stable result; recalibration is required after system updates (after updating Klipper / FLY Fast system or the MCU firmware, height calibration and TAP threshold calibration must be performed again)
To enable TAP mode, add the following to [probe_eddy_current fly_eddy_probe]:
tap_z_offset: 0
# Comment this out before automatic TAP threshold calibration; it will be written by SAVE_CONFIG after successful calibration
# tap_threshold: 40000
