Introduction

The Fly_WiScreen 5 is a Klipper control screen developed by Guangzhou Meilun Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. (FLY3D). It supports two modes: WIFI firmware and Serial firmware. It can connect to a Klipper host on the local network via WIFI or communicate directly with systems such as FlyOS-FAST via a serial port. The screen features a 5-inch IPS capacitive touch display and supports file transfer and firmware updates via USB or TF card.

Difference from FLY Screen

The Fly-WiScreen 5 is an independent serial/WIFI screen. Serial mode uses moon2uart for communication and does not use the fly_screen switch. fly_screen is the native screen display service of FlyOS-FAST, applicable to native display scenarios such as FLY-TFT and HDMI.

Core Features

WIFI Firmware Mode

  • Network Connection: Supports searching for and connecting to Klipper hosts on the local network via WIFI.
  • File Transfer: Supports uploading print files to the printer using the onboard USB port or TF card slot.
  • Cluster Control: Supports master-slave mode for convenient synchronized management and control of multiple printers.
  • Custom Macros: Supports custom operation macro commands to simplify debugging and complex operation processes.

Serial Firmware Mode

  • Direct Connection: Supports direct connection to the FlyOS-FAST system or a host with the Moon2Uart plugin installed via a serial port.
  • Custom Macros: Supports custom operation macro commands to simplify debugging and complex operation processes.
  • Advanced Features (FlyOS-FAST Exclusive):
    • Power-loss resume prompts and recovery.
    • Control the host's WIFI connection and configuration via the screen.
    • Set extruder nozzle size and filament type via the screen.
    • File management, model slicing, and print queue settings.
    • View the host system version and other information.
  • Notes:
    • The onboard WIFI function cannot be used in this mode.
    • The onboard USB and TF card slots can only be used for firmware updates, not for regular file transfers.

How to Choose a Firmware?

  • If you need to wirelessly connect to multiple Klipper printers and transfer files directly via the screen, choose "WIFI Firmware".
  • If you use the FlyOS-FAST system and require deep integration features like power-loss resume and WIFI configuration from the screen, choose "Serial Firmware".
  • If you want to enable the native HDMI/FLY-TFT display interface, please refer to the FLY Screen documentation. Do not use fly_screen as a substitute for the WiScreen 5's serial firmware configuration.
  • For firmware download and flashing instructions, please refer to the "Firmware Update" section.
