Sensor Calibration and Testing
This page is used to test the S1/S2 of the two motor channels and the B1/B2/B3/B4 of the buffer, for a total of 8 Hall sensors. Multi-controller slave units not connected to a buffer only need to test the 4 motor sensors and can skip B1-B4.
Before organizing wiring, inspecting terminals, adjusting buffer magnets, or reconnecting sensors, completely power off the printer and disconnect the power supply. Do not plug or unplug wiring, rearrange interface cables, or touch terminals while powered on.
Wiring Instructions
Preparation Before Calibration
- Unload filament from both motor channels so that all motor sensors are in the empty state.
- Clear the filament path in the buffer, and ensure no buffer sensor is in the triggered state.
- Confirm that the movable mechanism is not held down and that the motor buttons cannot be accidentally pressed.
Performing Calibration
- Connect the power supply and confirm all lights are flashing white, indicating that calibration has not been performed.
- Press and hold the status button for approximately 2 seconds.
- Wait for the red, green, and blue light effects to finish. Do not power off or operate the motors while the light effects are playing.
- After the light effects finish, the arrow buttons should show red; the status button will show red or green depending on the current mode.
- If filament is present in the buffer or motors during calibration, the baseline values may be incorrect. Clear the filament path and recalibrate.
Testing Motor Sensors
In load mode (status button red), test the two motor channels individually:
- Slowly insert filament from the channel entrance until it triggers the
S1. - The motor should start feeding; after the filament reaches the exit and triggers the
S2, the motor should retract briefly and stop. - When the
S1is triggered, the corresponding channel light should turn from red to green; when not triggered, it should remain red. - Repeat the above steps for the second channel.
Before organizing or reconnecting sensor wiring, completely power off the printer and disconnect the power supply.
If the motor does not move after inserting filament and the channel light remains red, first check the S1; if the motor continues feeding and pushes the filament out of the motor, first check the S2. After completing the checks, power off, organize or reconnect the wiring, and test again.
Testing Buffer Sensors
During testing, only move the buffer by small amounts and at low speed. Keep fingers and tools away from pinch points, feed wheels, and motors. If any jamming or abnormal movement is noticed, stop testing immediately, power off, and then inspect.
After confirming the motor sensors are working correctly, switch to automatic mode (status button green) and move the buffer mechanism in the following order:

Before adjusting magnet positions, sensor mounting, or wiring terminals, completely power off the printer and disconnect the power supply.
If the filament of the current channel has just left the motor but is still in the filament path, and the next channel starts feeding prematurely causing a jam, it indicates an abnormal trigger position or input state for the B1. Power off to check the magnet positions, sensor mounting, and wiring terminals, then recalibrate.
Testing Buttons
Testing the buttons will drive the motors. Keep the filament path clear during operation, and keep fingers and tools away from pinch points, feed wheels, and motors. Stop immediately if jamming is noticed, and inspect after powering off.
- Short press the forward arrow: the corresponding channel light flashes yellow and the motor runs forward.
- Short press the reverse arrow: the corresponding channel light flashes blue and the motor runs backward.
- In automatic mode, pressing the arrow button for an active channel will first switch the device to load mode, then execute the corresponding action.
- In pause/load mode, when the channel advances until the exit sensor is triggered, the device will retract a short distance and stop. This is normal protective behavior.
Determining the End of Testing
Only after the S1/S2 on all channels, the buffer's B1/B2/B3/B4, and the button actions all behave as expected, can the device be used for normal operation. If the indicator light flashes purple or flashes red rapidly, stop automatic feeding and investigate the cause.
